| Lise and Mike have been collecting instruments for about the last ten years. We knew there was a reason, but we couldn't work out what it was. At last, we now know. Have a look and see what we use! |
| Keyboards | |
| Korg Triton Pro (aka 'Bontempi Mk II') | Studio Workhorse/God like piece of equipment. Mostly using Factory sounds, although a fair few have been changed, and some are coded from scratch (mostly due to long boring sunday afternoons). |
| Roland VK7 (aka 'Bontempi Mk IIa') | Mike's little baby. It's got wood, and drawbars. What more could he ask for? |
| Elka EK44 | Hopefully more use in the future, a new addition to the family. £10 at the local auction. |
| Casio CTK-650 (aka 'Bontempi Mk I') | Just awesome. Sounds from the depths of somewhere you'd really rather have forgotten about. Used to drive the 05/RW, but now an 'entity' in its own right! |
| Korg 05/RW | Ah, the little beauty that started the studio. Not used much recently, but to be revived. |
| Waldorf Pulse | Lovely little analogue mono-synth. Slightly ill at the moment, due to missing power supply. |
| Oak Dulcitone | A Five Octave 'tuning fork' keyboard. Made by
Thomas Machell & Sons, sometime between 1860 and 1920. No serial number,
but it does seem to be signed by the man himself. Rock! |
| General Instruments | |
| Augie Acoustic Guitar | Steel strung, roundback, and of American descent. Found in second hand shop somewhere down the A3. Strangely rebuilt, and sometimes slightly out of tune. |
| Washburn D10SCEB Semi-Acoustic Guitar | New, plugs in, works well. And lovely in black. |
| Unmarked Euphonium. | |
| B&M Champion Trombone. | |
| Spanish Acoustic Guitar | Very old Nylon strung guitar. Found on a market stall. Character (if nothing else) intact. |
| Sitar | 'New' to the household, but very much welcome. An amazing instrument. |
| Tibetan Prayer Bells | Apparently a family heirloom. Was probably nicked on a misguided journey to the deepest darkest depths of Peru, searching for small bears. |
| Biro | Stock unaltered Biro. Slightly used. |
| Speaking Tube | No idea what it is. Children's toy. Groans. |
| African Thumb Harp | |
| Tambourine | Found in Music shop. An impulse purchase. |
| Shaker Eggs | |
| Zither/Auto Harp | Not sure which it is. Completely out of tune. Love it. |
| Euklele Banjo | Missing four strings. Remaining strings by The British Music and Tennis Strings Company Ltd, London. |
| Koch Chromatic Harmonica | In C. Comes in a deeply sexy box. Pictures to follow. |
| Green Marbled Alvari Piano Accordion | Hard to play, but fun. |
| Tuba Mouthpiece | Surprisingly, comes in use quite regularly. |
| Other Household Objects | Anything that makes the appropriate noise at the appropriate time. |
| Studio Gear | |
| Rode K2 Variable Pattern Tube Mic | Very sexy, and comes in a box to match. Sounds even sexier. Highly recommended. |
| M-Audio Firewire 1814 Audio card | Useful, clean, compact, and seems to have every connection under the sun |
| M-Audio Monitors | These have performed brilliantly. Love 'em. |
| Supermarket Headphones | Ah, come on. Our last decent ones broke, and we haven't had time to get any new ones. They work. |
| Coffee | God yes. Mike now swears by Africafe from Dar es Salaam. |
| Homemade PC | Works 90% of the time. Can't really complain then - that's better than many. |
| A ton of virtual instruments. | Can recommend E-Phonic's Drumatic and SR-202 for Drums. Free, and versatile when you get under the hood. Triangle II is a joy as well. |
| Live Gear | |
| Mackie SRM450 Active Speakers | I like these. Light, Loud, Luscious. |
| Behringer 2442FX-Pro Desk | This was a buy! Extremely light for its size, surprisingly clean channels, and the built in FX Unit is extremely handy! Thankfully, we have our own sound engineer in the form of Adam, so setup is a breeze. It'll be in the studio soon. |
| Assorted Mics | SM58s, a Sennheiser e935 and an AKG Handheld. |
| Korg MS2000 | Thanks to Dan, we can have vocoded joy on stage without using the Triton. |
| Laptop (P4-M) | More and more keyboards without having to lug them. Smaller than a string section too. |
| M-Audio Firewire 410 Audio card | That laptop needs thundering sound, and it comes from this. |
| A Ton of Stands, Cables and 'Sundries' | Yeah. But we need more. The baby cars are starting to suffer under all of this :( |
| M-Audio Axiom 49 | Control for one and all. Very handy. |
| Secret Things | Everyone should have their secret things. These are ours. |
